I received an unexpected email the other day—a nomination by John Mark Miller of The Artistic Christian for the Very Inspirational Blogger award . Thank you so much, John Mark. I am a relatively new blogger. The nomination came on a day when I needed an extra dose of encouragement. The nomination is humbling and affirming that I am doing what God has called me to do. I’m always prayerful that what I post will hit the mark that God intends—so really, the award belongs to Him.
I started blogging about eighteen months ago, but was not very consistent. Only recently have I been more so. Learning what it means to be a part of the “blogosphere,” I went on a diligent WordPress search to find some meaningful Christian blogs that I could follow that would add inspiration to my day and add value to my morning quiet times. I found The Artistic Christian to do just that.

Seven Facts About Myself
I am married to my best friend, Tim, and we have three teenagers—fifteen-year-old twins and a fourteen-year-old. Life is fast-paced in our home!
I think it’s amazing how God changes our hearts and minds completely about some things—even things that aren’t “spiritual” per se. Growing up, I hated being outside. But now, working in the yard is one of my favorite activities. Putting in a paver patio or a new flowerbed gives me a chance to be alone and thoroughly think through tough matters. When the weather is right, I enjoy my quiet times outside in the paradise spaces of my front and back yards.
I also hated exercise as a kid. But about 12 years ago, while I was preparing to teach Experiencing God, the Lord “called me” to run a marathon. Of course, I thought He must have been joking. But—He did, and I did! I fell in love with running. A few years ago, however, I let it go and dearly wish I had not. Trying to catch up now—and my knees are protesting!
I am a reluctant scrapbooker. Actually, scrapbooking gives me a headache—you wouldn’t know it by the growing pile of paper, punches, trimmers, tape runners, etc. that are piling up in my DINING ROOM! But I enjoy small projects, like bookmarks and cards. I have a couple of friends who drag me around to different scrapping events and help me finesse the projects I start. My favorite is the weekend get-a-way in Galveston. Sunrises on the beach and uninterrupted time with girls are the reasons I go!
Hello, my name is Dianne. And I’m a coffee snob. Can’t stand Folgers or Maxwell House. Gimme the good stuff—strong and black—in a real mug.
I love fruitcake! And if I don’t say so myself, I make some of the best on the planet. Check out the recipe.
I am a native Texan. I love all things Texas—pecans and bluebonnets, cornbread and Tex-Mex, armadillos and even the insane mockingbird. I was born in El Paso and along with my birth certificate, I received a Certificate of Citizenship that accorded me the following rights as a “Native Daughter of Texas”: The right to brag on the home state in the “Telling of the Tall Tale” … The right to render, in Public Places, with or without instrumental accompaniment, “The Eyes of Texas are Upon You” … The right to wear boots and 4 gallon hats without let or hindrance … And the right to a special brand of Freedom enjoyed by no other people on the earth.”
