I’m looking forward to attending this year’s Declare Conference. It will be my second time! The other day I told a friend that Declare is so special that, even if you aren’t a writer or a blogger, you could go and feel completely challenged and refreshed in your spiritual life and calling. I love the way Declare speaks to every aspect of our lives–not just ministry.
When did you feel called to be a digital evangelist, what’s your main medium (podcast / blogging / books / speaking / social media / etc.), and how long have you been doing it?
I started writing Christian devotionals and Bible studies about 10 years ago. In 2013, my husband challenged me to take my writing to the next level by starting a blog. It was a scary step, but I did it. I’ve never looked back!
What is your life scripture?
I don’t have a “life scripture.” My favorite verse changes, depending on what God is doing in my life. This verse is on an index card and currently propped up against my computer:
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)
What are your passions?
I dearly love my family. Time with them is what I most treasure. We were all home-bound during Hurricane Harvey. (Thankfully, our home was spared any damage.) The somewhat closed quarters we shared provided the gift of time for a family that is going every which way! I also love leading and teaching Bible studies to women. Although, I don’t teach formally anymore. I do love writing, which has taken priority.
What is your favorite band and / or food?
My favorite food is “in transformation.” I do love all things chocolate. But this year, God called me to a healthier lifestyle. So my go-to snack is now grapes! Doesn’t matter if they are green, red, or black. As long as they are crunchy and don’t have any seeds, just gimme a bunch and I’ll make short work of them!
What is your happy place and what’s it like?
My happy place is the beach! Sand between my toes, searching for shells. Reading a good book under a canopy. I love being there with friends, family, or all alone.
I am in the middle of an 18-month (so far) project–a Bible study that I will be pitching to an agent at Declare. Scared.to.death!
Yes, please! My family’s needs are diverse and time-consuming. My parents, my in-laws, my kids. Health issues abound. But I need to get my pitch ready and start on my proposal. Every time I turn around, there is another appointment. (I am not complaining! In fact, my family comes before my ministry. So I’m good! It’s just stressful!)
See y’all soon!
