  • Devoted to Prayer

Devoted isn’t a word that we hear all the time.  Certainly it’s more common around Valentine’s day.  I think that’s why, when I hear the word, my first thoughts are of my husband and the love we share.  When Tim signs a card, Your devoted husband, I feel treasured.  For me, the word devoted carries with it a sense of tender love and deep commitment. But what does it mean to be devoted to prayer? Acts 2:42 tells us that the early church “… devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and… Read More ›

  • Receiving Physical & Emotional Strength through Spiritual Meditation? (June, 2007)

I’m reading a book by Nancy Leigh DeMoss … A Place of Quiet Rest. NLD quotes Andrew Murray at the beginning of Section 2 (page 49): “The young believer [and every other believer] … must take time quietly and deliberately to come into God’s presence, to feel his weakness and his need, and to wait upon God through His Holy spirit to renew the heavenly light and life in his heart. Then he may rightly expect to be kept by the power of Christ throughout all the day and all its temptations.” [my comment added] I always find it interesting when… Read More ›
