When I was a young girl and young in my faith, my mom explained the difference between quiet times and Bible study. We need both to grow spiritually strong. The primary purpose of devotional time is to keep us connected to God. But consistent Bible study causes our roots to grow deep. It takes more time, but so does developing quality relationships.
In Bible study we ask questions and search for understanding. As the Holy Spirit illumines truth to our hearts and minds, we deepen our insight of who God is and who we are in relation to Him. Often, we discover areas where we need to change the ways we think, feel, and act. This is the process of becoming more like Christ. The goal of every encounter with God’s Word is life change. A big part of that happens in consistent Bible study. These posts will challenge you to take in nourishment from the rich soil of God’s Word.
