WITH The Lord, Is Unfailing Love And Full Redemption

It seems like while I was “with my withouts,” a lot of other things were without me!

A dear friend of mine encouraged me to focus on some “withs” as a follow-up to my #write31days challenge of 31 Days of Living WITHOUT.

My heart was so encouraged as I began researching that. This post is the beginning of a few of those. (that, this and those … blech!!) So look for a couple of posts a week between now and the end of the year focusing on some great withs!

I’m slowly working my second time through Beth Moore’s STEPPING UP. I pick it up when I’m not working on the study for my church group. Today’s focus was on Psalm 130.

Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive?
But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.
I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word.
I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn, yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows. (Psalm 130:3-7)

The psalmist is acutely aware of his sin. At the same time, however, he knows what it is to be completely forgiven. I love verse 7 in the NIV.

Israel, put your hope in the Lord for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. (Psalm 130:7 NIV)

WITH the Lord is unfailing love. WITH the Lord is full redemption.

Typically, human love is fickle. When we are hurt, we hide. Often, we harbor hate towards our offender.

That’s not how God operates. Our sin hurts Him deeply. But He loves us more deeply. WITH the Lord is unfailing love.

Because of His unfailing love, He forgives us completely and offers full redemption. Full value–not partial. In the money world, if someone needs to pay off significant debt, they sell their assets. If you find yourself in that unfortunate circumstance, you usually aren’t able to sell your stuff for its full value. You hope you are able to get enough to pay your debt.

But WITH the Lord is full redemption. The New Living Translation says, “His redemption overflows.” There is enough to cover all our debt, and then some.

It’s because of God’s unfailing love and full redemption, that the psalmist tells Israel to put her hope in Him!

I don’t know about you, but I need that kind of love and forgiveness in my life. I need Someone to wipe all my mistakes away, and give me a fresh start.

WITH the Lord, I have that. If you belong to Him, so do you!
